Today our close friends Paul McClellan and Nat Smith arrived at 9, and did most of the heavy lifting and shoving. We managed to work this solid chunk of cast ion out of the bed of the truck down a little 2” drop onto the somewhat corrugated of the loading ramp. Carefully we worked it down to the bottom where we held it in place while Nancy pulled the truck and ramp away afew feet. Finally, on 34” Delrin rollers we dragged it to the top end of our walkway where it sits out in the rain, with the bare cast iron parts protected. Its in a good place where my friend Jaime can pick it up with his Bobcat if he has a chance to come over this coming week. Thank you Paul and Nat!!!
If not, I might have to work it up the hill to the workshop on plywood with Salvadore Dolly, a 4 wheeled cart for heavy machinery that Alden and Cali loaned me. If that is the case, I’ll need to set up an anchor driven into the ground and use block and tackle to pull it up the incline, especially the steepest part. It would be nice to get this out of the rain before the next big atmospheric river event!
This was a week of getting things long overdue out of the way. Moving this heavy tool, a colonoscopy, sending off the very last flute in my “long queue”. I’ll be starting out the week making some Folk Flutes actually. This will be fun for a change!
