So much for my Heavy Metal experience. I attempted to carry these heavy machine parts up to my workshop. I can usually drive around the back of my house and get up to the workshop in a fairly lightweight vehicle such as my 2010 Honda Civic Hybrid.
Thanks to Atmospheric River, Definitely Not Today nor anytime soon. I got stuck and bottomed out. This is the first time this has happened to me in 30 years of living here. The only other stuck vehicles here were the UPS truck once and the truck delivering Sheet Rock.
Nancy suggested several things that probably would work. I didn’t want to participate in any of that as it would add to my soreness. So we decided to get our money’s worth out of AAA and the Kitsap Towing Truck pulled me out.
But this also turned up some great news!!! Apparently Kitsap Towing has a small truck with a tippy bed that they use for heavy equipment moving at $175/hr. So next week as soon as we can arrange the forklift, I’ll have them do the heavy lifting and bring the heavy mill to our place here, and drop it on the concrete walkway where I’ll wrap it for the duration.
I might then rent a small Bobcat or Tractor and carry it up the hill that way - or get a small crew of friends to help drag it up on a sandwich of plywood sheets and rollers.
This is all part of the long process of getting these Glass Flutes reinvented and made. I wonder if Old Claude had such difficulties, including needing a tow truck!
Two other niceties today. I have postponed next weeks gnarly dental work the day after my birthday and a gnarlier experience to yet another dentist whose office helped save my flute career until mid January. The other was some vindication from a friend whose opinion I value highly that I did the right thing.
