Thanks to a recent COVID exposure I am in quarantine and unable to work on flutes.
So I am going to get to work on my new Wind Instrument Making Substack Journal which will simply be called “Winter Nurse”. I explained this in a previous post. Autocorrect can be really funny!
You may subscribe now! Go to woodwindmaking.substack.com and subscribe for $7/month
The posts will arrive weekly, once a week, except for the first two. Comments and questions are allowed. However, I will only be responding to the 5-10 max and most interesting ones so as to not be overwhelmed. Nancy will help me with this and editing in general.
I am going to keep the current $7/month price that Substack recommended for now. The first 2 posts will be freebies. After that I will do 5 posts available only to subscribers. Then a free one which will be a summary of what we just covered and what is to come. Then another batch of 5, then the free summary etc.
This will simply be Tutorial and related, such as discussions on wood selection, business advice, interviews (Pat Olwell for instance), data, photographs. To start, the first free one will be an introduction and then a history of my career as a flutists and instrument maker starting at Age 6 and ending at Age 66.
The second post will be the freebee example post will be a selection of:
1) How to make Plastic Bagpipe Reeds
2) A Preview of the Reed Making Video that Brian Steeger and I never released. We’ll get around to it. This is entitled “Reed It and Weep!”
3) A drawing of an instrument out of my notebooks
4) Miscellaneous photos and links from the workshop etc.
After this the real fun begins.
Meanwhile keep enjoying my free daily or weekly blog or journal which covers the progress on these glass flutes and many other crazy things that this flute maker has to deal with or is inspired by at laurentflutes.substack.com
